Green Room Collection

Surface design for 22″ x 22″ pillows

Background

The Gregangelo Museum in San Francisco was interested in creating ready made products for sale in a new museum store. The wanted visitors to  be able to take home a bit of the magic from the museum. The museum contains many rooms, each with its own unique theme.

The overall idea was to create a gift collection for each room of the museum. The items for the shop incorporate existing art and well as feature new art inspired by things in the museum.

The Process

For these projects, I photographed the various areas of the museum, digitized the art and reworked, collaged, or created new artwork for the designs. The designs were done using Adobe photoshop and Illustrator with final products being printed on ready mades from a print on demand service.

Inspiration from Bedroom

The collaged design is a made up of textiles, wall paintings and decor found in one of the unique bedrooms. It’s a very opulent room and I wanted the design to reflect that. The second design is a silhouette of the circus performer chandelier  in the room. is a collage of various design elements found in one of the unique bedrooms. The back design is a silhouette of the circus performer chandelier in the room.

Midnight Hall Collection

Project

The midnight hall is a main portal that leads to many of the rooms/installations in the museum. I created new surface designs based off of elements from that area of the museum. The designs were created initially for pillows and will be used on other products as the store expands.

Kitchen Collection

Project

There are many tours, performances and special offerings that happen at the museum. One of those experiences is a tea ceremony. The museum already had a special tea blend available for purchase and wanted a mug set to go with the tea.

I photographed and digitized the art, reworking images for the mug designs. The designs were created in Adobe Photoshop with final output being done by a print on demand service.

Two coffee mugs

Inspiration

The kitchen was the main inspiration for the mug set. The design of these mugs incorporates the celestial motif, stripes and deco styled art painted on the cabinets in the kitchen of the museum.
